Safety Concerns

In the two-lane segment of Highway 55, the ability of roadway users to find gaps in traffic for safe access, crossing, and passing is restricted by the road alignment, high traffic volumes and high speeds.  Additionally, congested intersections create unstable flow which can contribute to the potential for accidents.
