Crews working on the Interstate 35W St. Anthony Bridge project will work through much of the holiday week.
This past week (December 10th), the first visible sign of the bridge foundation took shape when the concrete footing for Abutment 1 on the south river bank was poured
Work taking place next week includes:
Drilling and filling of concrete shafts that form the foundation of the bridge will continue. One hundred nine shafts will be drilled before this work is complete. Currently about 20 shafts have been completed. Drilling and filling with concrete will continue next week.
Working in the casting yard continues into next week and will become more visible as crews erect the forms for pre-cast sections next to the casting beds. The forms rise about 30 feet above the casting beds. Concrete for the first pre-cast segments will be poured near the middle of January.
Excavation work to prepare for construction of the footing for Pier 3 on the north side of the river will begin next week.
Lights may be noticeable from 6:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. when drilling crews work occasional second shifts. Crews may also work on Sundays to take advantage of good weather and make best use of equipment.
Full-color signs about the project were mounted on the west side of the 10th Avenue Bridge this week. The signs follow the same route as the Saturday tours and allow the option of taking a self-guided tour at any time.
